About
The music industry is filled with brilliant artists whose lives have never been adequately protected by federal law. The result is a number of businesses across the United States who have not once ever been required to fully protect the lives of artists.
Article 27 Music, LLC, launched in 2019 after Corinne Devin Sullivan listened to Woodstock legend Melanie share her story. It was one where Melanie lost everything too many times to count, going all the way back to her first “publishing deal” as a songwriter, back in 1974. With painstaking detail, Corinne helped Melanie document correctly the abuse. The result was a clear case of theft executed through the workings of today’s leading companies: ASCAP, Sony, BMG and Round Hill Music. Melanie’s single story was too awful to believe. And, yet, it had happened. In fact, it ruined her life completely.
To make matters far worse, the Music Modernization Act of 2018 passed through as a law in a mere matter of months. It was never put to the public to vote upon but it still sells streaming services in front of all the people working in music. The result is a total misappropriation of earnings manipulated through bad actors inside the country’s government establishments.
Protecting the lives of artists working in the music industry by the passage of federal law is more than 100 years overdue. Without those laws ordering us around and telling us what to do, people of good heart and good moral character must choose to continue to support corrupt losers who seem to be everywhere or simply buckle down and get the job done in the American way: with honesty, fair treatment for all, and a remorseless sense of brotherhood.
Article 27 Music LLC acquired, salvaged and released with Melanie a lost collection of “one-off” studio recordings. It continues to deal in the musical legends’ works and may expand to producing further collections that save the historic works of our favorite artists. As well, this company protects artists lives by holding informative briefings, and putting together special musical events commemorating the International Day of Music. It also administrates the workings of educational group, Human Rights For Music.
